There is always a session that represents a pivotal point in my journey as a photographer and this session is one of those.

This little girl has a passion – a drive – that most people four times her age do not have. Upon arriving to this session, I knew right away that I was stepping into a very unique shoot. I had to keep reminding myself to shoot, to look through my finder, and keep shooting. I was in awe. the sight of this tiny little girl amazing to be running around with this horse and totally slaying riding was an amazing sight! I don’t remember being in love with anything at this age as much as she loved riding.

While shooting, I realized this is it. This is where I want my photography to go. I want to capture joy and raw emotion. To capture that passion that one has for whatever they are passionate about – whether it be their horse or their own new little baby that has just entered the world. I want to document THAT feeling. I don’t want to deliver just a pretty smiling picture, posed and all. I want to deliver emotion. Raw and powerful.

Since this exact session, I have been honest with myself and my clients. I’m a storyteller. I will document the feelings and emotions, not just a pretty face. And I love it.

This session is where my pure passion of photography meets this little girls horse riding passion. It’s pretty cool.
