Ireland Adventure | Day 4

Today’s little Ireland post will be pretty short and sweet. After a trying day today with my now 3 year old, I’m finding myself a little short of words. Actually, it’s funny because todays day with our toddler was much like day 4 of our trip. We were drained to the core. Dublin had been so much fun but really difficult maneuvering around with a 30lb bundle of joy and tantrums who wants to explore the world all on his own.

On this day, we drove all across the country to the Western shores. Dingle is probably myself and my husbands favourite place in the entire world. Not only is it beautiful, but the culture is just so inviting and so ‘us’. The food is delicious everywhere (surprisingly, because Ireland isn’t typically known for their cuisine), the atmosphere is so down to earth and it is just fun. However, the best thing about Dingle for us is that it is family friendly.

We settled in our rented house, this time in town, and we took W for a walk to go see the sheep and cow we could see from our window. He was finally free. We could run around without having to completely worry that he would get hit by a car or lost in a crowd. He could have some space, and so could we. I tried to catch up on sleep for most of car ride, so there we lack in images. But these from afterwards just remind me of how much we felt like we were home in some way.

Afterwards we still had a little bit of energy, so we went to the first bar we could find with good music. I know, here it’s  a no-no to bring a toddler to a bar in the evening, but it’s normal here for families to do everything together it seemed, he was one of many in the room. And who cares? He had a blast and mom and dad could relax for once. He ended up loving the band and spent the hour dancing in front of everyone. It was a riot. I wish we had pictures, but at that point, all I wanted to do was sit and relax. This memory will be forever engrained into my brain anyways. It was a perfect end to our day. After a few much loved songs, we all went home and slept so well that night.

But it’s funny, because even though today may have been a trying day just like Day 4, I am reminded that there are always the moments that you can find joy and love in that are very, very, much worth capturing.
